Twelve questions, twelve straight answers – with prices, lead times and numbers. If yours is missing, call or write and we answer within a day.

Installation and prices

Who fits it, how long it takes, what it costs, which doors it goes on.

Can I order just the lock, without installation?

Yes, but not every model. Fitting a smart lock needs a small but very precise modification, and no two doors are the same. A poor installation can void both the lock’s security function and its warranty – which is why we recommend our own fitters. If you choose shipping, we cannot cover faults caused by incorrect installation.

How does the installation work?

1) Fill in the quote form and upload 2–3 photos of the door (lock, handle, opening direction). 2) You see the calculated price immediately; the final itemised quote arrives by e-mail. 3) We get in touch within 48 hours to book a slot. 4) On site we fit the lock, set up the TTLock app, enrol fingerprints and show you how guest codes work. Usually only new holes for the handle are needed.

How much are installation and travel?

Installation is a flat 35,000 HUF on every door type if the job is done within 2 hours (typical for standard wooden, PVC and metal doors). Beyond two hours each started hour is 9,500 HUF. Parts a conversion might need (mortise lock, bar lock, face plate) are not part of the installation fee. The travel fee depends on the distance from our base in Miskolc – Budapest, for example, is 19,500 HUF. The quote form calculates all of this.

Which doors can it be fitted to?

Most wooden, PVC and metal doors. Compatibility depends more on the existing lock than on the door – we have a solution for 95% of locks. Both of our locks go on all three door types; only the body style changes: usually the slim body on wooden and PVC doors, the classic body on metal ones. From photos and measurements we can tell you in advance which one fits your door – the price is the same either way.

Everyday use, app, batteries

How it opens, what the gateway is for, how long batteries last, what happens if they die.

What is the gateway (internet access), and do I need one?

Gateway – internet access (WiFi bridge): a small WiFi bridge. The gateway connects the lock to the internet: remote unlocking, online code generation, an access log from anywhere. Without it, Bluetooth only, from 2–3 metres. If you want to unlock remotely, generate guest codes online or check the access log from anywhere, you need the gateway (22,900 HUF). One gateway serves every lock within 3 metres.

How can the smart lock be opened?

By PIN code, IC card, from the TTLock app over Bluetooth or WiFi (with a gateway), and with a conventional key in an emergency – that is true of both locks. The fingerprint smart lock adds the biometric reader on top. With a gateway, Amazon Alexa voice control also works.

Will my phone work with it?

Yes. The TTLock app is free and installs on any iOS or Android phone.

How is it powered, and what if it goes flat?

Four batteries (AA or AAA depending on the body). The app shows the charge level and warns you about 50 unlocks before they run out; with average use you replace them every 1–1.5 years. If they do go flat: two master keys come with the lock for a hidden keyhole, and a power bank on the lock’s USB port gives it enough energy to open the door.

Is it good for elderly people?

Very. No phone needed: touching the IC card to the lock opens the door, or the fingerprint reader does the same. Auto-locking makes sure the door is never left open.

Security and warranty

Encryption, the MABISZ recommendation, insurance and what the 2-year warranty covers.

How secure is it?

The locks communicate with AES-128/256 encryption over TLS – the same level banks use. A door’s weakest point is not the lock but a lost key. The smart locks we fit carry the conformity recommendation of the Hungarian Insurers’ Association (MABISZ), and after fitting your door’s existing mechanism and bolts keep working exactly as before.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Every product we fit carries a 2-year warranty under Hungarian Government Decree 270/2020 (VI. 12.). It covers material and manufacturing defects, electrical faults and any fault caused by the installation. It does not cover normal wear and tear, damage from external physical or chemical effects, improper use, vandalism or unqualified tampering, or replacing the lock’s batteries. Door-structure and network (WiFi) problems are outside the lock’s warranty as well.

For hosts

Guest codes, cleaner access, entry log – the way it works in an Airbnb flat.

As a host, how do I give a guest a code?

In the TTLock app you generate a timed code for the booking period in a few taps and send it to the guest. After check-out the code expires by itself. Cleaners and maintenance get their own recurring code or card, and the log shows who came in and when.
